Lorna helped me compile an assortment of story fragments into a cohesive narrative. She immediately understood the task in hand and helped with conceiving an overall structure, essential for taking the project forward.

Line Editing

Sometimes called “stylistic editing”, this stage takes place when big-picture issues have been addressed. It is a close, detailed edit of your manuscript (in Microsoft Word) that strengthens the prose and resolves issues with vocabulary choice, redundancy/repetition, flow, clarity, characterisation, consistency, and credibility.

  • Optional 1-hour consultation call: £50

It was the first time getting professional editor feedback (the experiences I had before with a semi-professional were not the best). Lorna’s feedback helped me to trust an editor with my text and trust that the feedback will be helpful and in honour of what I want to write.

Copy Editing

This process occurs when you have a final draft of a manuscript. At this stage, the editing focuses only on technical and mechanical correctness, addressing errors in spelling, usage, punctuation, grammar/syntax, and internal style. For more information about copy editing, download my free resource from the Self-Editing Support page.

Please note: It is not the same as proof reading! Proof reading only takes place when the book has been formatted for publication.

  • Pricing depends upon the needs of the manuscript, which is determined by a sample edit.

  • Returning clients receive a 10% discount.

  • Members of The Writers Workshop receive a discount.

Lorna’s edit made a huge improvement to a text I thought I’d polished. All her suggestions were kindly and thoughtfully made. After going through her changes, the sentences sparkled.
— Amanda
